About Serengeti
14,750 km² of savannah — roughly the size of Northern Ireland — and on some days you will not see another vehicle. The Serengeti is the park the image of Africa comes from: golden plains to the horizon, a lone acacia, and beneath it the highest concentration of predators on the continent.
The Great Migration circles through here every year. Where the herds are depends on the rains, so we choose your camp based on the month you travel. In January and February they calve in the south; from June to September they cross the rivers in the north.
Allow three to four nights. Any less is a shame: the distances are big and the finest moments fall at sunrise and sunset.
