Highlights of Tanzania & Zanzibar

Arusha · Tarangire · Ngorongoro · Serengeti · Zanzibar

About this trip

The complete north,
finished on Zanzibar

This is the trip we run most often — and for good reason. In sixteen days you see the three iconic parks of the Northern Circuit, meet the people who live there, and then wash the dust off on Zanzibar.

We deliberately keep the drives short and stay at least two nights in every place. That gives you time for both morning and evening game drives, and saves you from repacking your bag every day.

The route is a starting point: more Serengeti, less beach, add a balloon flight or camp instead of staying in lodges — it is all possible.

What makes this trip special

  • Two nights in each place — no packing and unpacking every day
  • Both morning and evening game drives, when the animals are active
  • A visit to Angel’s village in the Ngorongoro Highlands
  • Private 4×4 with roof hatch — you share with no one
  • Seven nights on Zanzibar to properly unwind

The route

From arrival to departure

Six places, sixteen days. We drive the whole route with our own driver and vehicle; only the last hop to Zanzibar is by air.

Stop 1

Arusha

Day by day

16 days / 15 nights, day by day

For each day you can see where you sleep, which meals are included and how long you are on the road.

  1. Day 1

    Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport

Your driver is waiting. A gentle start at a lodge near Arusha and a first meeting with your guide.

  2. Day 2 — 3

    Tarangire National Park

Giant baobabs and the largest elephant herds in Tanzania. A night in a camp overlooking the river.

  3. Day 4 — 5

    Ngorongoro Highlands & Crater

Down into the crater: the highest density of wildlife in Africa. Coffee farms and a Maasai village along the way.

  4. Day 6 — 9

    Serengeti National Park

Four days on the plains, with a chance of the Great Migration. Optional: a balloon flight at sunrise.

Frequently asked questions

Something else on your mind? Message Gerald or Angel — you get an answer from someone who has driven the route themselves.

Yes. This is a starting point, not a fixed package. Adding days, skipping them or turning the route around is all possible — we simply recalculate.

In your personal proposal, within 24 hours of your enquiry. The guide prices on this page show the order of magnitude for each comfort level; the final price depends on when you travel, your group size and the accommodation you choose.

We deliberately plan short drives, usually two to three hours. Where we can, we stay at least two nights in the same place, so you do not have to repack every day.

Absolutely. Plenty of travellers choose standard or premium on safari and go more luxurious on Zanzibar. Mention it in your enquiry and we will put it straight into the proposal.
