On domestic flights your bag usually cannot weigh more than 15 kilos, and a soft bag is easier than a hard case. Beyond that, the list is shorter than you think.
The three things everyone forgets
- A fleece or thick jumper — it is ten degrees on the crater rim
- A cloth for your camera, because everything turns red with dust
- Cash in small notes for tips
What you do not need to bring: a mosquito net (there is one already), water bottles (they are in the car) and camouflage clothing. Neutral colours are enough; in Tanzania camouflage is actually illegal for civilians.
